Is Bird Right for
You?

Parrots have been kept in captivity since the beginning of history and it is
easy to see why. Parrots are not only extremely beautiful but are very
intelligent and can become wonderful loving companions. A parrot will quickly
become a member of a family.
Many people compare getting a parrot with getting a roommate. These birds
have big voices and even bigger personalities. Are you ready to start your day
with a parrot telling you how happy he is that the sun is up? (They can scream
about it!)
Things
to consider before buying a parrot
-Can you afford a parrot? Parrots can be
expensive, large birds can run in the thousands. Not only is the bird expensive
but you must buy a cage, toys, cuttlebone, food and a yearly veterinarian visit.
-Are you ready for that
kind of commitment?
Parrots can live up to eighty years! Even small birds like conures can
easily live past twenty. Are you ready to keep a pet for that long?
- Will a parrot fit into your lifestyle?
Parrots Require daily social interaction. Can you spend at least thirty minutes
every day with your feathered friend?
-Parrots can be Noisy Parrots, even
little ones like Budgies, are noisy by nature. Can you handle a noisy bird in
the morning? Will your neighbors?
